    ASUS Digital eBook Reader

    August 29, 2009 | Asus, Peripheral | 1 Comment

ASUS will bring out a digital book reader, possibly before the end of this year, DigiTimes reports.Citing Asus CEO Jerry Shen, DigiTimes says the device will use the Eee brand – diluted even further, not that we are particularly troubled by this. Since the Eee label means (mostly) friendly products budget, it sounds like Asus will not be looking at taking on the tastes of the premium Sony Reader Touch Edition, but rather competing.

Following this, Shen suggested that ASUS EeBook – if it becomes real name, you’ve heard the fist heard – may even start this year, using words DigiTimes’ “by the end of the 2009 at the earliest. ” Is anybody surprised that the pre-Christmas season (as “the end of 2009 is also known) would be a target launch date? I think not.

DigiTimes also claims that “industry sources” have MSI pegged as “evaluate” the market of electronic book reader. That’s hardly a revelation – that MSI would not “evaluate” a growing market would be a great surprise, frankly. My advice: Do not hold your breath, but do not be surprised if a number of eBooks creep in the months ahead. [via trustedreviews]
