Asus Eee PC 900 Simply Small Notebook

The 701 was first introduced in June 2007 and was launched the following October. He quickly won praise for its compact, highly portable size and low cost. We loved, but like most Eee users we found the screen to be simply too small. The sub-notebook battery life also left much to be desired.

With the 900, Asus has taken this criticism on board and tried to build a machine of comparable size without the limits of the previous model. Let’s see if it is successful. The main change most obvious is the screen. The 701 display 7in was not physically too small, but its 800 x 480 resolution had not enough pixels. Even in Linux, where dialog boxes can generally be resized, you can find windows that were too large to display. This is even more common under Windows XP.

900 of the screen is larger in all respects: it is 8.9in in the diagonal and has a native resolution of 1024 x 600. These extra pixels makes a big difference when it comes to viewing documents web pages in particular and most physical area means you do not have to squint when you’re in the alignment of sliders likes of The Gimp, for example. Photoshopping is much less a chore this time.
