Canon EOS 5D Mark 2 Digital Camera

When traveling, I tend to very little as a pack as possible. In my case, I have a pack of three lenses, and of course the Canon EOS 5D Mark II body. Mon”tour “is an EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM. Second objective is a Canon 70-200mm f/4.0 L IS. It replaces the model f/2.8 because of its low weight and sharpness over 200mm. The third objective is a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, a so-called “spares.” In retrospect, I did not use it at all. The camera bag also has a gray card and two memory cards. That will do, my goal is to return home with 20 beautiful images. Before using the Mark II camera, you must adjust the AF objective for an optimal result. It is a simple, but still an important job! It is unbelievable that the instructions are hidden somewhere in the user manual.

The Canon 5D Mark II has only 9 AF points and 6 AF assist points. This does not seem much compared to the 45 focus points of the Canon 1Ds Mark III and 51 points Nikon D3X. On the other hand, the Sony Alpha 900 has only slightly more than 9 points and 10 assist focus points. I do not mind the small amount that many, what does annoy me is the fact that they are all grouped around the center. And this is only the center is a cross type sensor for lenses brighter than f/2.8. This is a setback to the specifications of the Canon EOS 40D or 50D. However, how does it work in practice? With sufficient environmental light, fast and accurate AF works, and all AF points can be used. In poorly lit conditions, (photo 2), it is wise to use only the center sensor. You must be aware that the photo was taken in the effort. Photo 3 shows the dolphins from a small boat and narrow, despite the minimal time available to focus, the AF works well here too. The center of the sensor was used for this photo. I did not capture moving objects or the camera at all.

The body feels a little lighter than the 1Ds Mark III or a Nikon D3x. In fact, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is a bit lighter than the Sony A900 and Nikon D700. If you have to walk every day with a camera, every oz counts! Compared to a 40D, the Canon 5D Mark II feels more solid, although there is not much difference between the two cameras. The material of the case provides a good grip, even with tropical forests, moist hands. [ via letsgodigital ]
