Canon i-SENSYS LBP3010 All-In-One Printer
August 15, 2010 | Canon, Printer | 1 CommentThe i-SENSYS LBP3010 Canon’s entry-level SOA, the lowest cost laser printer, designed for individual use on a desktop computer. Despite its low asking price, a surprising amount of design went into the machine, producing a modest-sized printer that can still work at good speed.
The printer is wrapped in ice white with a glossy cover that folds up and out through the top of the machine to form the output tray. A thin strip of plastic, full of holes designer, deviates pages out of the facility to ensure that flat on the tray.
A good example of attention to the design of this printer is the paper tray cover. A relatively minor detail, but with a personal laser, there is always the SOA problem of what to do with the paper when you AORE not printing. In many machines, the board is fully exposed to dust, coffee and other debris that can ruin prints up and a printer.
Some models have a removable lid on paper, but if you want to shut the machine when not in use, you must have a paper tray and cover. With the LBP3010, when you fold the panel before making the paper tray, a hinged cover folds inside to cover the paper.
Here, even a AA sheet feeder for special media on top of the lid, a piece of elegant engineering AI. Both trays can take a wide range of paper sizes from A5 to 215mm x 355mm.
There is no control panel AA as such, it takes only one green flag to the left of the output tray, which shows the power and data with a single button to feed paper. A single USB socket at the back is set behind a small lid, hinged, so that the cable shows.
A single driver is provided, with very little extra software, but Canon continues to provide support for Windows since 2000, OS X 10.3.9 and various incarnations of Linux. Good variety for such an inexpensive machine.
