More precisely, it is a weapon wielded by Google Chrome against Microsoft Internet Explorer. This is a new open source plugin for Internet Explorer, called Google Chrome Frame, which makes IE behave exactly like Google Chrome with its support HTML 5 and fast JavaScript engine. Upgrading while extremely useful for users and developers poses a problem for Microsoft. They can not deliberately cripple Chrome without facing a horde of bad press, which in turn would mean good publicity for Chrome. But if they do not, IE users will be exposed to chromium and possibly further increase the market share for Chrome. With Google Chrome Frame, developers can now get the latest open web technologies such as HTML 5, even in Internet Explorer.
For users installing Google Chrome Frame will allow them to enjoy seamlessly modern web applications at blazing speeds, thanks to the familiar interface of the version of IE they currently use.
