June 8, 2009 | Component, Computer, Gadgets | 1 CommentTechCrunch has worked on the CrunchPad for a few months and have recently unveiled the latest prototype is an important step in this system to make effectively to production. The CrunchPad is a Linux-powered device that starts right in a Web browser. TechCrunch described as the objective.

A very thin and light touch-screen computer without physical keyboard, which has no hard disk and boots directly to a browser to surf the web. The operating system exists only to manage the device drivers and run the browser and related applications. That’s it.
The latest prototype has been reduced in thickness from previous models, and now measures 18mm. It is thanks to an aluminum housing that allows it to be sound, the previous plastic and to raze part of the old model too. [ via gadgetvenue ]
