December 1, 2009 | Dell, Notebook | 2 CommentsDell has managed to create a Google Chrome OS image to boot a Dell Mini 10 for USB from the operating system. Before reading for details, note that this has been created recently, has not had many tests and is not supported by Dell.

The new operating system has not yet been officially launched, but already a number of people who go to the source code to create versions that run on virtualized VMWare and other software as well as the installation via a peripheral USB Engadget just last week. The Dell version can be downloaded (8 GB Memory Stick necessary) and only works with Wi-Fi or wired connections. A couple of problems with this version is that wireless takes 5 to 10 minutes to start working really well it works.
When running OS Chrome from a USB key instead of a virtualized version running in VMWare, it works much better and gives an overview of how the system could operate operating next year when it was launched. The operating system is itself is far from over and there is not much support again, but he is now working with the right equipment. If you have a mini-10 and a spare USB 8GB then check the blog community Dell for complete instructions on how to install the OS chrome. [via gadgetvenue]
