Reuters has been talking to a person familiar with the situation, and stated that the plan should be announced after Monday. These new features allow third-party developers to create services that access the content downloaded by users of Facebook, including photos and videos with the users permission.

Facebook does not charge for this service. Facebook will host an event for developers today at its Palo Alto, California, headquarters. The social networking site currently has more than 200 million active users around the world. [ via product-reviews ]
