    Fujifilm FinePix HS10 Digital Camera

July 25, 2010 | Digital Camera, FujiFilm | Comments Off

Super-zoom digital cameras have been around a long time but it seems that more recently manufacturers are treading water with their designs, with one or two models in their range and they are updated at irregular intervals, with sensors, more powerful and more ranges zoom. The only company that seems to make every effort to market super-zoom Fujifilm, which has no fewer than nine such cameras in its lineup, including the FinePix S2500HD, FinePix S200 EXR traffic and a camera Review today, the new FinePix HS10.

The EXR S200 would always be an act hard to follow, then Fujifilm has released the big game and loaded the HS10 with all the features they could think of, including several novel features which are unique to this unit. The basic specification is impressive to say the least. It has an incredibly powerful, but very compact 30X zoom, the longest zoom range of any current camera, with a focal length equivalent to 24-720mm, a maximum aperture of f/2.8-5.6 and manual zoom control. It has a 10.0 megapixel 1/2.3-inch CMOS back-illuminated sensor, a 3.0-inch 230K articulated monitor, a viewfinder field sequential resolution of 0.2 “200k-mail and can take full HD video 1080p with stereo sound.

With most other manufacturers are focusing their development efforts on the long-zoom compact devices and new system mirrorless the HS10 does not have much direct competition. The new Panasonic announced FZ100 offers Full HD video and a 24x optical zoom, but its nearest competitor is 18-month-old Canon PowerShot SX1 IS, which offers the full HD video, stereo audio and an articulated screen, but has only a 20x zoom lens. It is also the same price. The HS10 Fuji is currently selling for around £ 399, but the Fuji cameras tend to fall in price dramatically after a few months. [via trustedreviews]
