Garmin nuvi 1690 Sat-Nav Speed Mobile GPS
January 19, 2010 | Display, Navigation | 4 CommentsWe found Hot Traffic was more dynamic than previous RDS-TMC based garmin sat-nav implementations of traffic, and was more able to get away from jams on major roads. It is therefore an improvement over the standard RDS-TMC, but not as far as the HD Traffic TomTom. Garmin also keeps its database up to date radar data link mobile, with frequent updates. Then you’ll be less likely to make an impromptu inspection speed mobile.

A little over a year ago, TomTom has radically changed the nature of the personal navigation device. Previously, he was essentially a passive, receiving signals from satellites to provide location and routing information accordingly. TomTom has launched its Live services with the x40 series, which connected to a mobile data by providing a range of connected devices. It took a long time for other manufacturers to respond to TomTom, but now one of the oldest brands of sat-nav company meets the challenge, and potentially raise the bar even further. With the nuvi 1690, Garmin introduced the NuLink!, Reflecting TomTom LIVE and adds a little more.
Live Like TomTom sat-navs, the 1690 has a mobile data connection built in. Thus, it can upload and receive information from the Internet. Garmin uses this technique to provide a full range of services. For starters, instead of using the conventional FM radio receiver to receive the latest traffic RDS-TMC, the 1690 uses the data link. Garmin calls this traffic hot, because the information is updated more frequently. However, the UK supplier Trafficmaster rest, so that real information is not as detailed as the TomTom HD traffic, although similar service currently provided by NAVTEQ are used in some European countries.
