Google Android Modder G1 Applications
September 27, 2009 | Cell Phones, Software | 1 CommentPeople modder who created cyanogen, modded ROM Android, has been recently affected by a cease and desist from Google telling him not to distribute applications to closed-source. This includes Gmail, Maps and Youtube are often a part of its drive.
Cyanogen is a ROM that works on phones like the G1, which is already designed to run these applications, it seems a bit strange that Google are trying to prevent. Another problem is that Android Market is expected to closed-source too, even if the ROM has been installed then you could actually fight for downloading applications. Maybe Google and cyanogen can learn something together. [via gadgetvenue]
