Gyration Air USB Adapter Elite Mouse
April 25, 2010 | Peripheral, Portable Storage | 1 CommentAwesome that the potential is, we were impressed, but not completely won over by the previous efforts Gyration: mobile MotionSense with Air Mouse and somewhat vitiated air GO Mouse Plus. Let’s see if the new Air Mouse Elite can convince us completely.

Firstly it is worth pointing out that the Elite is primarily a desktop device, not the compact, dongle integrated, removable batteries and carrying pouch of the mouse with Air MotionSense. To some extent this is rather an evolution of the GO Plus, since it is a larger unit with its own charging station.
As usual, it is well packaged with a quick start guide and driver CD. The mouse itself is the most attractive Gyration has not yet put on the market. It seems more elegant than previous efforts thanks to a top piano black with touches of silver and chrome finish. Gyration has done an excellent job of making fingerprints as invisible as they may be plastic, glossy and they are never visible enough to distract you.
The weighted base acts as charging station, and sport the same finish as the mouse body shiny black with silver netting. It is well built, compact and elegant, and slotting the mouse to recharge a breeze. In a nice touch, charging cable ends with a USB socket, so if you do not use the USB adapter to socket you just plug the station into an available port on your PC or laptop.
Our only criticism is that the database itself does not use a USB connector but is rather an outlet exclusive semi-rounded with difficulties if you lose the supplied cable. While on the topic of perception, another minor concern is that – unlike some wireless mouse rechargeable NiMH replaceable batteries that use AA or AAA – Air Mouse Elite uses a non-replaceable lithium battery, leading to performance loss as possible after a few years.
