    January 6, 2010 | Hardware, Network | Comments Off

We have a feeling Iomega have kept an eye on Pogoplug, since the new Iomega iConnect Wireless Data Station offers the same type of network connectivity for USB devices. Basically, a remote access with NAS no possibility of storage on board, iConnect has four USB 2.0 ports for connecting external drives or memory sticks, with a gigabit ethernet port.

Iomega give owners a custom web address that allows them to access content on any drive connected, whether to do so from a PC, Mac or Linux. From this interface it is also possible to remotely administer the, iConnect establishing BitTorrent downloads or initiate a backup from networked machines.

In addition to remote access, it is also possible to duplicate the contents of one drive to another (with a One-Button QuikTransfer touch on the front panel) and share up to two printers. It also offers UPnP DLNA media streaming, photo slideshows and simple Iomega throw in some backup applications also. The Iomega iConnect will go on sale worldwide later in January 2010, priced at $ 99.99 with no subscription fee ongoing. [via slashgear]
