iPhone & iPod Touch G-Fi and Navmii Satelite Navigation
January 13, 2010 | iPhone, Navigation | 2 CommentsAn application called Navmii brings satellite navigation to the Apple [AAPL] iPhone and iPod Touch 2G. The browser is called Navmii and provides turn-by-turn navigation for each of such devices.

To get the GPS coordinates of a new system called G-Fi is used. G-Fi device with a GPS receiver inside and also works as a mini-router for the iPod touch or iPhone 2G to connect to wireless and GPS receive to enable the mapping software function. Although not a new product, I always thought it was worth a mention here.
The G-Fi device is battery operated and is good to power the GPS and the wireless connection for about 5 hours of use. The broadcast radius is about 100 feet. Geolife created Navmii software that provides turn-by-turn routing. PosiMotion are a company that makes the G-Fi device that works alongside him. The software costs £ 29.99 for UK cards and $ 39.99 for maps of the United States while the Wireless GPS G-Fi hardware costs $ 99. [via gadgetvenue]
