The mission of the OLPC to create educational opportunities for the poorest children around the world by providing each child with a rugged, low cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaboration, joy and power of self-learning. When children have access to this type of tool, they engage in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, the world and a brighter future.
Original vision of Nicholas Negroponte was selling $ 100 laptop for parts of the world not as fortunate as others. The XO-1 skyrocketed to a laptop $ 200 but there are some very interesting features like an LCD Dual-mode: black and white for a content and a high resolution color display slightly lower resolution.
