DSS based on various expansion cards have been around for years and they are unequivocally the best of the best of the best, sir. With the honor, sir! However, they are also more expensive, by a country mile we are talking about thousands or tens of thousands of pounds. So to bring this level of performance to a higher level consumers, OCZ has created the Revo.

This PCI-Express x4 card uses two controllers Barefoot each control half of the memory chips and configured in RAID-0. OCZ says the result is the Revo has 540 MB / s read and 530 MB / s write speeds with a score of 75K IOPS 4k random writes. SATA, by comparison, are limited to about 250 MB / s read / write IOPS and 50k. Certainly, the stage in the performance will not be noticed by many most of us are ecstatic with the change of a hard drive of a half decent SSD, let alone an uber fast – but for users serious, it might come useful.

Readers will be avilable in sizes from 128GB to 480GB OCZ and hopes they will be only about 12-15 percent more expensive than SATA equivalent (in capacity). This equates to a around £ 340 for 128GB and £ 1,200 for the 480GB one. Not cheap but certainly in the areas of affordability. You can choose a place come the end of the month. [via trustedreviews]
