The badge signifies that the player has been rigorously tested by THX and meets high standards in a number of areas for the video they check that the bridge offers clean deinterlacing and upscaling and accurate color, contrast and black and white reproduction, while the side they check all audio formats compatible to ensure that the signal is transmitted to a receiver without any degradation.

But there is much that the deck of a THX badge. Onkyo Admittedly, the emphasis is firmly on quality build and this is clear when you first haul of the box. Compared to your average budget player, the BD-SP807 is an absolute tank it is 108mm high and weighs a hefty 5 kg in connection with the construction of reinforced chassis designed to minimize vibration.
But despite its size the Onkyo is a nice looking player, boasts the elegance you expect from players in this price range. The panel black brushed aluminum front curves gently forward at the bottom, while the inclusion of only a few buttons maintains minimal aesthetic. The billboard is large and legible and can be dimmed if necessary, although the blue light shining on the left is much more entertaining.
Like the previous bridges Onkyo, the Profile 2.0 BD-SP807 sports an SD card slot instead of a USB port more useful. The purpose of the slot is twofold – to let you play AVCHD, MP3 and JPEG, and storing BD-Live and Virtual Data Package. Without a card reader (who must be at least 1 GB) on the bridge will not let you access BD-Live to all. It is unfortunate that Onkyo does not incorporate this memory into the drive, especially at this price. [via trustedreviews]
