Panasonic HDC-SD9 Positive First Impressions Camcorder
December 16, 2008 | Digital Camcorder, Electronics, Panasonic | Comments OffUnlike many tiny camcorders, the SD9 does not come with a miniature battery enclosed in the chassis, without more life options. However, decent 1320mAh is a standard that will be enough for more than an hour of registration, until almost two hours, depending on usage. This fits perfectly on the back of the camcorder, but you can replace it with a long life version instead, with options for an enormous 5800mAh, which will give you between five and eight hours before making the soul.

We have already explained the SD9 key features in our preview. However, we wanted to confirm our positive first impressions, check out the video on an HDTV, and see exactly how the new electronic engineering behaves in different shooting conditions. After much practice, particularly in low light, we remain quite impressed by the SD9 the quality of the video. The images do very grainy light that falls below the equivalent of a living room lit by a 100W bulb, even if the color is still reasonable. So here’s the small size of the three 1/6in CCD can be overcome. But for most consumer uses such as holidays outdoor or indoor shooting events with at least some lighting the SD9 fits the bill.
We do not have much chance to put the Panasonic detection system to face the test in our survey, either, so this was something else we experimented widely. One thing he can not do is improve the situation in low light. If there is not enough lighting in general, Face Detection will not make much difference. It is primarily aimed at conditions where your subjects are against bright backgrounds – quite common if you shoot your family standing in front of a landscape. Beyond this limitation, we found the system worked well, choose precisely the faces and put a yellow box around them. Face Detection can also be found on recent Sony models, such as the HDR-SR12.
