PhotoFast G-V4 Monster 1.8 Inch Solid State Drive
PhotoFast Launches G-V4 Monster 1.8-inch Solid State Drive (SSD), which is available in three different versions, the G-Monster-50 IDE V4 using the 50-pin IDE interface, the G-Monster-1.8 V4 ZIF using ZIF interface and the G-Monster-1.8 IDE V4 using 44pin IDE. All these capabilities are 1.8-inch SSD based MLC flash memory and are available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB (the first 1.8-inch SSD to 256GB).

They offer up to 128 MB / s read speeds and 90MB / s for writing. G-V4 PhotoFast Monster’s 1.8-inch SSD has 64MB of cache and include built-in function Garbage Collection, which is to improve SSD performance by accumulating data marked for delete “trash” and make the entire block erase as space reclamation for reuse block. PhotoFast’s new 1.8-inch G-V4 Monster DSS all work with Windows 7. [via itechnews]

We actually found the 1.8 ZIF Photofast G-monster V4 to be among the fastest 1.8 ZIF SSDs in the market and it worked brilliantly on our Macbook Air Rev.A. We installed 2 x Photofast SSD on our Macbook Airs in late 2009 and have not seen any performance drop since then.
