Samsung External Storage Hard Drives
July 18, 2009 | Component, Computer, Hardware, Samsung | 1 CommentMost external hard drives require the addition of a bridge circuit to convert the board PATA hard drive interface in a USB interface. Samsung N3U drive, however, uses a native USB interface and as such does not need the bridge board. As a native device USB interface, the Samsung SpinPoint N3U hard drive eliminates the possible points of failure because of losing the cable connections and optimizes performance by eliminating the time of interruption of service for the bridge on board convert USB signals to PATA. N3U and the Samsung 1.8 “hard drive also consumes about 40% less power than a 2.5″ hard drive of equivalent capacity.

“The new high capacity 1.8″ 250 GB drive Samsung enhances product offerings and is ideal for consumers who need a small form factor, high capacity data storage”, said Choel -Hee Lee, Vice President of Marketing Storage System Division, Samsung Electronics. “It is easy to carry and it is designed to withstand a free fall drop of up to 50 centimeters and be resistant to a maximum of up to 1500g shock incident”. Samsung is now delivered industry areal density of all levels of the hard drive form factor products with up to 1.5 terabytes for 3.5 “drives of 500 GB 2.5″ drives and 250 GB of 1, 8 readers. N3U Samsung SpinPoint hard disk is available in 120 -, 160 -, 200 – and 250-GB capacities, the rotational speed of the disc is 3600rpm, and it supports a USB 2.0 interface. The new hard drives are equipped with an 8 MB cache memory. [via letsgodigital]
