The latest incarnation, the Extreme Solid B2100, following the footsteps of the original Solid Samsung M110, and B2700 Bound.The Solid Extreme looks more like the Bound strong as the original and is sold in some circles as the B2100 Xplore, which is what it is called to Samsung’s original press release.
The B2100 part of its name remains intact if it is called Extreme Solid Xplore or if, and it is best thought of as a less-featured alternative to the B2700 Bound.The point of this phone, like its predecessors, is to survive harsh conditions outdoors. It aims to be the kind of phone you can take hiking, mountain biking, climbing the hill and so on without wimping when it is lost, complaining of a cracked screen, parts of water, etc. Flashes red along the edges to give it a touch of distinction.
It is not surprising, then Extreme is the solid material is fairly robust. The housing is IP57 certified, meaning that it can withstand dust and water. It will handle immersion in one meter of water for 30 minutes, apparently. Oh, and it conforms to military standard 810F too, which means it can survive in salt spray, extreme heat and cold, rain and blowing.
To achieve this the device has a hard rubber casing with a minimum of openings. The keypad is a rubber sheet with each raised a key pad. It is easy enough to use at your own pace, even if the speed texters perhaps a little insensitive. The rubber anti-slip finish to the keys more easily than usual in the leg when wearing rubber gloves and finishing of the entire chassis, should make a grip with gloves safer that your shiny plastic chassis.Plate very tight and can not be removed with a coin, screwdriver or something similar to unlock it.
