Samsung NX Hybrid DX Image Sensor Digital Camera
March 4, 2009 | Digital Camera, Electronics, Samsung | Comments OffThe small size of a compact camera, and the DX sensor with which the picture quality of a digital SLR is available on our website are used for the new Samsung camera. It seems that Samsung is following the occasional announcement last year that the company was creating its own “Micro FourThirds system. This story was not received with great enthusiasm and even less because it came just after the announcement of mutual Olympus and Panasonic to their new Micro FourThirds. Samsung announcement was seen as nothing more than a smokescreen.

Today, it appears that Samsung has not yet seated at all. The foundation of a camera division (Samsung Digital Imaging Company), which will focus only on a digital camera business to 1st February had already been revealed. In addition, the development of new NX has naturally continued, and during PMA in Las Vegas, we will be able to hear of its characteristics.
The most important factor is the type of image sensor DX. This image sensor format has been used for many years now, and is more or less regarded as the standard for digital SLR cameras, both for fans and the advanced photographer. The large sensor provides high image quality with an excellent signal / noise, even at high ISO values. And that’s exactly where the camera should give in. The megapixel race to provide the largest number of pixels has become a stalemate. And although the number of pixels does not matter so much today, while 6 Megapixels deliver a perfect resolution to 95% of the market (consumers and the marketing) has never stopped postpone the test. This resulted in artificial attempts to maintain the quality of the pixels, but the difference in quality between the device and compact camera has only continued to increase. Dynamic range, high ISO, lens quality and so on, are under constant pressure being in this race.
With the arrival of the Micro Four Thirds system, the solution seemed at hand. Panasonic has proven to be able to provide the first micro FourThirds system camera, the Panasonic LUMIX G1. A camera that was warmly welcomed and has proved an instant success. However, the size of the device is not what you expect from a “micro” type. There are still opportunities for brands that can find something smaller. All hopes were placed on Olympus and what they had in the pipeline. At the last Photokina show in 2008, Olympus is showing a compact design concept. With this model, Samsung aims to orient the hope in a certain direction. However, with the introduction of the NX Samsung camera, the game is not over yet.
Samsung NX hybrid device is not a mirror, but does have an electronic viewfinder for high-precision. In addition, the camera offers Live View function. Leaving aside the mirror and the application of the EVF, it is possible to reduce the distance between the lens and the image sensor by 60%, keeping the camera compact and lightweight. Hopes are high in relation to Samsung. The expectations are so high that the projected Samsung, even a digital camera 20% market share for this segment in 2012. And of course, Samsung gives himself a leading role in this market. [ via letsgodigital ]
