February 2, 2009 | Computer, Electronics, Sony | 2 CommentsSony is about to take energy conservation to the next level with their new line of Bravia televisions V5. The new televisions automatically turn off when they feel it is not in the room. TVs are equipped with a tiny sensor on the screen, keeping an eye on the room to make sure there is someone there.

If all the people who watch TV out of the room, then V5 Bravia TV cuts power to the LCD, it will be back on when a person returns to the room. The sound will continue to remain so, unless someone enters the room after 30 minutes, then the TV will switch to standby mode.
This system of energy conservation will reduce energy consumption by at least 50 percent during the time the screen is off. The general use of the Sony BRAVIA range V5 consumes less energy than their predecessors, the new 40-inch and 46 inch draw 129 watts and 153 watts, respectively, compared to previous models V1, 217 watts and 263 watts, respectively.
