Sony Noise Blue Sky S Series Walkman
August 31, 2009 | Electronics, Gadgets, MP3 Player, Portable Storage, Sony | 1 CommentSony announced the latest version of its sustainable Stalwart, the Walkman, with some additions to their range of portable music players. Rather than just provide music for one, the S-Series includes speakers to share the sound, while the new E-Series offers a stylish entry level option.

The new S-Series Walkman features a 2.4 “LCD screen with playback up to 30 frames per second, and voice recording and an FM recorder to capture additional pieces from the radio. When you use the headset, the battery life is touted to offer 42 hours of music and about 6 hours of video playback. When playing through the speakers, users can expect the reading time of 17 hours and 5 hours for music and video, respectively.
The entry-level E-Series, while wearing a smaller screen, has always claimed battery life of 30 hours for music and 4 hours for video. Both units operate “Sony’s Clear Audio” technology for improved sound quality, and the two compact units have a width of less than half an inch. The portable music players are iTunes and Windows Media Player compatible and support most popular formats such as MP3, WMA and JPEG.
With the release of two new S-Series and E-compliment models of its X-Series latest release, Sony seem to make up lost ground in the field of PMP. The S-Series models will be available in 8GB and 16GB, priced at U.S. $ 110 and $ 130 U.S. respectively, with the E-Series also set to be released in 8GB ($ 80) and 16GB ($ 100 U.S.) formats.
