The new format adopted improved 8 bit parallel interface and features an interface increased clock speed of 60 mega hertz (MHz), enabling 60 Mbps (480 Mbps theoretical value) the speed of data transfer. This is three times faster than Classical Series 4-bit parallel interface and 40MHz clock frequency interface adopted in the “Memory Stick Micro”, offering speeds of data transfer of “Memory Stick PRO-HG” on a micro-sized memory card, Since September 1998 the marketing of the “Memory Stick,” the cumulative shipments of media is estimated to exceed 500 million units in 2009. SanDisk and Sony will continue to work on improving the use of the Memory Stick to respond to market needs for larger and faster memory cards.
