Sony VAIO PCG-505TR Small Size Laptop

The authors bought two Sony VAIO PCG-505TR computers ($ 1495/each) (Note: I do not know of any business, including CDW, which still bears the 505TR.) We chose this model because Sony’s small size, high resolution screen, and Linux compatibility described by bfields and jfreund Linux on Laptops page. The new N505 costs no more than 505TR and has a faster Celeron processor 333, but dwhysong and Liz both reported incompatibilities, using the N505 with Linux.

The first author already own a NEC Versa 2730MT, which weighed more than 7 pounds. He just anywhere, because it was too heavy, the VAIO is small enough that it carries with him often, leading to be used much more. The small keyboard and screen takes some time to become accustomed.

We were both happy with the service CDW. However, our laptops appears to be DOA! The solution is to connect the laptop for about 20 minutes to charge the internal battery so that the machine will start. Our machines would not turn before charging the internal battery for a few minutes!
