Powered by an Intel Core series, the Portégé R700 is equipped with DDR3 memory, DVD burner, an ExpressCard slot, two USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA / USB combo port and HDMI output.
The Portégé R700 comes with a 13.3-inch screen with LED backlight, a keyboard and a raised slab multitouch touchpad. There is only 1 inch thick and weighs only 3 pounds. It features the new air cooling technology that uses directed flow of fresh air to cool the heat generating components. The laptop has a light but durable magnesium alloy frame reinforced with a honeycomb design of new coastline.

Toshiba R705 also offers the consumer-oriented Portege magnesium which has a blue cover. All models come with Portege R700/R705 6 cell battery and supports WiFi connectivity. The R705 also sports Intel Wireless display for a wireless laptop to an HDTV big screen but lacks the capacity to receive or ExpressCard.
