Toshiba Qosmio X500-10T MObile Graphics Chips Notebook
February 10, 2010 | Notebook, Toshiba | 2 CommentsThis has been a while since we reviewed a laptop Toshiba Qosmio. In fact, last summer the G50-115 way back in 2008. This machine has been betrayed by a poor screen and Toshiba’s reluctance to embrace Blu-ray, making the high prices hard to swallow. Toshiba seems to have seen the error of his ways in the Qosmio X500-10T, which, among other things, provides a reader / writer Blu-ray.

In terms of specifications, it certainly captures the attention, he should know that you have to cough up £ 1,600 for the privilege of owning. For that you highlighted as a mobile processor Intel Core i7, an nVidia GeForce 200 series of mobile graphics chips, 8GB of RAM, 1 TB worth of hard drive space and a Full HD 18.4in screen to display the Blu ON rays, which is impressive for the money.
Being part of the range X500 brand this machine as one intended for high definition entertainment and gaming. This explains the concept more showy, with reasons pinstripes now ubiquitous Toshiba joined by a red highlight around the lid, the body and on certain items such as speakers and touchpad buttons. It will not be to everyone’s taste and the X500 certainly divided opinion in the office, but credit to Toshiba, this model is an improvement over the X300 scandalous that preceded and is more moderate than many of ‘competitive bids. Toshiba insistence on the shiny finish interior is less praiseworthy, so you’ll constantly need to remove fingerprints and grease to keep the X500-10T looking its best slightly gaudy.
Fortunately, tile keyboard semi-matte, as we have come to expect from Toshiba, a pleasure to use. Key Travel is shallow, but well-defined layout and spacing is ideal, and the chassis has allowed major Toshiba to add a full numeric keypad. Best of all, the keyboard is clearly backlit in white, which makes it a doddle to use in the dark. It’s a bit odd, though, that Toshiba did not opt for the red backlight to match the rest of the system.
To the left of the keyboard Qosmio spending a physical power button and all of Toshiba’s standard touch controls that are identical to those found on the Satellite P500 laptop. These include a backlit green button “Eco” to activate the power saving mode and the usual variety of multimedia buttons – all of which are backlit in red. These keys are very sensitive and Sun briefly to indicate a successful press. They also produce a horrible noise beep loudly when touched, which fortunately can be turned off using the software “Toshiba Assist”. [via trustedreviews]
