Mix with faster processors and faster operating systems, you get a fresh scroll and operation of the system. However, they are not quite where they should be. For example, sending a text message on a mobile phone with a touch screen can be quite painful. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a screen that can change shape slightly to form the buttons on the screen if necessary.

The screen surface can be completely plain or have raised or lowered can automatically buttons that appear. Morphing buttons were created by Chris Harrison and Scott Hudson and were created as a proof of concept.
Morphing buttons work with a semi-latex on the screen. This is an acrylic plate with holes, then a pump is used to push or draw in the latex. The first prototypes using a projector and infra-red to support the multi-touch. The spotlight cast on the image on the screen while the infra-red light scattered senses when a finger touches the screen. [ via gadgetvenue ]
