WD Scorpio Blue 640GB Western Digital Hard Drive

Western Digital has announced it will begin shipping its 2.5 “WD Scorpio Blue 640 GB hard drive that will see action in consumer notebooks, making it the largest capacity hard Drive 2.5 “in the industry today that its 9.5 mm, 2 drives form factor is concerned. Despite being large capacity, the new WD Scorpio Blue 640 GB disk manages to reduce its overall energy consumption by up to 30% through the implementation of several new technologies inside.

WD Scorpio Blue 640GB ships

Several features available on the WD Scorpio Blue include:

* WhisperDrive – Technology WD’s exclusive WhisperDrive offers state of the art search algorithms
* ShockGuard – ShockGuard advanced technology combines firmware and hardware advances
* IntelliSeek – Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration

Expect the WD Scorpio Blue 640 GB (also known as model WD6400BEVT) hard drive retailing for $ 149 a pop a price that is quite good considering the amount of storage you want. [via coolest-gadgets]
