Western Digital 1 TB Hard Drive Computer
August 2, 2009 | Component, Computer, Hardware | 2 CommentsWestern Digital announced two drives portable offering “extreme” amounts of storage: the Blue Scorpio 1 TB and 750 GB Scorpio Blue. The Scorpio Blue hard drive support SATA2 (3Gbps) standard, but has a thickness of 12.5 mm versus 9.5 mm in the other 2.5-inch disks. This means that new players will not fit in all slots in the 2.5-inch laptops.

Other than capacity, the new Scorpio Blue drives have a set of advanced storage technologies, including:
* WhisperDrive, WD is using search technology algorithms to produce one of the quietest 2.5-inch drives available
* ShockGuard, which helps the reader to bear the shock, as the accidental, and better vibration
* SecurePark, which is a mechanism that parks recording heads off the disk surface during spin and spin and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head does not touch the surface of the disc to improve the long-term reliability
The Scorpio Blue 750 GB drive (model WD7500KEVT) is now available and costs $ 190. The 1 TB (model WD10TEVT).
